What is follow-up and when to use it

A deeper question on the analysis you already did. Costs, limits, examples of good questions.

What it is

After receiving an analysis on Decifra, you can ask one deeper question about your specific case. The engine responds in 30 seconds based on the already-analyzed document.

How many questions you can ask

  • 1 free follow-up included with each analysis
  • Extra follow-ups paid: €0.90 each, or €3.50 for a pack of 5

The free follow-up expires 7 days after the original analysis (after that, you pay €0.90).

What changed in v2.0 of the engine

Since May 2026 the follow-up responds more in depth:

  • Up to 12 sentences (was max 6)
  • Precise figures when known (penalties, interest, time windows)
  • Explicit comparison between viable paths when they exist (e.g. "you can pay in installments or pay in full, here are pros/cons")
  • "Expert consultant" tone like CAF/patronato, not generic chatbot

Examples of good follow-up questions

Specific questions to your case give the best responses:

  • "With ISEE €14,000, should I do standard or income-based installments?"
  • "If I pay within 30 days, how much discount do I get? Is voluntary correction better?"
  • "I want to file opposition, what are the typical timing and costs?"
  • "What happens if I ignore this letter for 2 months?"
  • "Can I offset with a VAT credit I have? How concretely?"

Examples of questions that DON'T work well

Generic or out of scope questions don't get useful answers:

  • "What's an ISEE?" (glossary answer, not follow-up)
  • "Should I sue my employer?" (out of scope, no document)
  • "How much does lawyer Rossi cost?" (we can't know)

In those cases the engine tells you politely and points you elsewhere.

When NOT to do a follow-up

If the question is "I want to appeal, how?" and the analysis already said "lawyer needed", the follow-up adds little: go to the lawyer.

Same for:

  • Amounts over €5,000 → accountant
  • Criminal matter → lawyer
  • Complex ISEE calculations → CAF/patronato

Decifra is informational orientation, not a substitute for professionals on complex cases.

Technical limits

  • 800 character max for the question: keep it concise
  • Max 12 follow-ups on the same analysis: beyond that, reload page and start over
  • Only the language of the original analysis

How to do it

  1. Go to the analysis result page (link in email or from /account/analisi)
  2. Scroll down, find "Do you have a specific question?" section
  3. Write your question (max 800 chars)
  4. Click "Ask": uses free follow-up if you have one, else asks for payment
  5. Response arrives on screen in 10-30 seconds

Responses are saved in history with the analysis: you can re-read them anytime.
